The 1st Regiment, Delaware Volunteer Infantry was mustered into
service on May 28, 1861. At that time it had 37 officers and 742 enlisted men
under the command of Colonel Henry H. Lockwood. The regiment was a "90
day unit" and was mustered out early on August 17, 1861.
3 Month Regiment, 1861
The 1st Regiment, Delaware Volunteer Infantry on October 17, 1861
was reorganized and mustered in as a three year regiment. The 1st Regiment
Delaware had 37 officers and 846 men under Colonel John W. Andrews.
